Right then, Ill begin by saying Im a little snobby but after living in student accomodation through uni I know what state some places can be. So my verdict on central house is a mere ok, nothing too ghastly just not that exciting. very small rooms, but if like me your not planning on staying in much youll be fine. However the lighting is rubbish in the room we had - putting on the slap proved difficult. Plus the bathroom door didnt lock properly. However they have a snazzy lift so my advice to you is if you want to see yourself in a full length mirror head to the lift! we did have nice service, the men on reception were friendly and sufficient. and the breakfast soaked some of that alcohol up. if your a young group of friends or someone if gets up, washes and gos central house will be sufficient enough.

The room was a little small for two - however the facilities were fine and clean, beds very comfortable. The staff extremely polite, helpful and welcoming. Felt relaxed as soon as walked through the door. Extremely good location. Would definitely consider staying there again.

For a Budget hotel, this was excellent. The cleanliness, standard of decor, service and finishing touches was a refreshing change. I was looking for a new hotel to stay in on my weekly stop-over and I have now found it.

Oct 2006 the dining room was being refurbished so we couldnt eat our continental breakfast there. We had a prepacked breakfast. Our main moan about that was the long life milk which I hate. We wasted a lot of food and that was a shame. If the refurb is long term, please can they rethink the breakfast bars and milk. If its in the fridge, it doesnt have to be the long life rubish.

The hotel was being refurbished during our stay.We were not aware of this at the time of booking. Our family room had not been refurbished. We were in the basement and the room was dark with paint pealing off the cealing.Breakfast consisted of pre-packed stale croissants and warm long life milk for cereal. Breakfast had to be eaten in the bedroom. We spent the minimum time in the hotel and would not recommend it to anyone else.

problem with booking system which gave me confirmation meant that i only by chance discovered my room at Central House had not been reserved after all. i was sent to St George, which does not have its own reception, or breakfast room, so had to walk to yet another hotel, explain my situation and get key, then go back to St George. Which had no tea/coffee facilities. At the time of making this booking, I also made a future booking, which apparently wa also not processed properly. I was told that someone would call me at 9pm last night to sort this out, but this did not happen. The room in the st george was very clean, and quite large, but it was right next to street and front door so rather noisey.

I was irritated to find that the hotel was overbooked on my arrival and I was sent to another hotel some 300 yards away.
