Ramsgate was originally fishing and farming village which developed in the 19th century as one of the greatest towns in the United Kingdom. Ramsgate is a town which is located on the Isle of Thanet in east Kent in UK and is the member of the ancient confederation of Cinque Ports. The town has been attracting tourists from all over the world because of its beautiful coastline for which it has been awarded the 2007 Quality Coast Award. The coastline of Ramsgate boasts of highly clean and well-managed beach, Ramsgate Main Sands in particular. It is one of the largest marinas on the south coast of England. The buildings of Ramsgate are significantly influenced by the Regency and Victorian style of architecture which counts to up to 900. There are also three remarkable churches namely, St Laurence-in-Thanet, St Augustine and St George which are some excellent examples of architecture.
Located in the east of Kent, Ramsgate is one of the greatest seaside towns in UK. The city has mainly attracted people because of its coastline and its industries. The buildings in Ramsgate are known for its Regency and Victorian style of architecture.

Some of the famous sights in Ramsgate are:
  • St Laurence-in-Thanet- It is one of the noted churches of Ramsgate which was built in 1062 in commemoration to Roman Martyr, Laurence.
  • St. Augustine’s Church- It is another noted church designed by Augustus Pugin in the neo-Gothic style. Located on the town’s westcliff, the church commemorates the first Archbishop of Canterbury, Augustine.
  • Parish Church of St George- It is the third noted church of Ramsgate located just off the town’s High Street. The lantern tower of the church assists the passing ships in providing navigational aid.

The city also has been enjoying ferry service from past many years. Transeuropa Ferries now sail to the Port of Ostend in Ostend, Belgium. The A299 Thanet Way connects Ramsgate to the national road network.
